Thanks to Friendster

Who says Friendster is of no use now?

Thanks to Friendster, I received 2 surprises ever since I came back KB...

First one was on the first morning I was at home (I reached home on 16 Dec night, first morning meant 17 Dec morning).

My phone rang; it's from a number which I did not know. It's a landline number. Hmmm...Who is this, I wonder? I picked up the call and the caller at the other line introduced himself saying he's from Nationwide Express. What, Nationwide Express the courier service calling my Malaysian number? This is odd...and the guy said that I have a parcel! WHOA...a parcel for me on the first morning I'm at home? Great! But who sent that parcel? I couldn't think of anybody who would use courier service to send a parcel...coz usually we just use Pos Malaysia (normal mail)...

Anyway, the guy called to ask for directions to my house, I passed my phone to mum coz I didn't know how to explain directions. Mum told him that we'd just go straight to the office to collect the parcel ourselves because the office is quite near to our house. I was still wondering who the sender was. I guessed it's from a friend in Malaysia (of course Malaysia right) but I couldn't think of anybody. My mum and sister were more excited than me saying I'm lucky haha =P

So we went to the office, I signed and got the parcel, saw the sender address....Marudi! Immediately I knew...it's from
Siew Ting!!! =D

First layer

Second layer...so colourful =D

Third layer

The contents...and each of them have its own meaning and value

These, are sunflower petals...the reason? Keep it between us =P

The strawberry chocolate notebook...it has the strawberry chocolate fragrance too =)

I texted Siew Ting to thank for the little sweet surprise. She then called me and said that she got my house address by sending a Friendster message to my sister! How surprised I was...my sister didn't even tell me! (Well if she did tell me it wouldn't be a surprise then =P)

The second surprise was 2 days ago. This time it's my sister, who went to check the mail box and then asked me a weird question, 'Who's N G?'

I casually answered, 'N G? N G for Ng la..'

My sister then said with a puzzled look, 'N G for Ng? Then Angie Ng la? Who is that?'

Upon hearing that, my heart missed a beat, it's Angie! Not N G...I took the letter from her hand and said, 'Aiyo this is Angelene la! It's her handwriting can't you see?'

She sent me a Christmas card =D

So cute! The envelope too!

Angie for Angelene!

The next morning my sister told me Angelene actually sent a Friendster message to her too asking for our home address!

See how Friendster is useful? =P

Perth Trip Day 4 & 5

Day 4: Fremantle

The main reason we went to Fremantle is because of the famous fish and chips (and other seafood) & Fremantle Market.

Had our lunch at Cicerello

Spicy and Crunchy Fish & Chips

You know what is this

Fried octopus

Dessert at Joe's...brownies + ice cream!!

It's also when Yu Wan ordered a tomato juice...speaking of the tomato juice, eeeewwww (even she herself couldn't stand the taste!) It's like tomato sauce and water...everyone 皱眉头!

We walked around and took some pics before heading to the Fremantle Market.

Display badges....colourful wow~

We even bought our groceries there because it's our turn to cook on Sunday night. Went back early after the shops closed at 5pm. As we were still very full, we had simple dinner e.g. instant pasta, instant noodles...and sweet mangoes!

Day 5: Curtin Uni & City

Ling Weng toured us around Curtin Uni in the morning before we accompanied her to city for shopping.

Curtin entrance

shaped like colosseum

You watch too much Princess Diaries =P

Lizard piak!

Curtin is very green inside.

They even have a spiritual garden!

Posers

It was a very hot day, temperature being 35 Celcius! We took the bus from Curtin bus stop and headed off to city to have lunch, and shopping. We shared 3 bentos among 4 of us..

It's Ling Weng who wanted to shop but then Yun Ying and I ended up buying stuff instead of her! >.< Came back early and started preparing for dinner....it's an INTEC gathering again! =D

Calvin prepared the vege...cabbage

Yun Ying fried eggs with tomato

Ryan cooked chicken with bean curd sauce

Yu Wan cooked egg with mushrooms

Yun Ying and I fried the salmon

Seems like I didn't do any work...actually I prepared the strawberries and cut the watermelon >.< oh oh and also the mashed potato!

Nice group picture =)

Another one

Went back to Jia Huei and Yee Fang's house after dinner and took pics again..

the 5 residents in the house!

All in all, it's a great trip despite the 'rumours' that Perth is a boring place...I think it's the friends that matters =D Thanks to our tour guides, friends who provided transport and accommodation and help etc, appreciate them =)

For my other friends who have not visited Perth, if you have 5 days to spare, give Perth a go!

Perth Trip Day 2 & 3

Day 2: Rottnest Island

The main activity to do at Rottnest Island besides sight seeing and taking pictures is cycling. Tourists usually rent bikes and tour around the whole island. Since I can't cycle, I bought a whole day ticket for the bus ride...the bus goes around the island (except Western End) and stops and certain areas eg. bays and beaches. Yu Wan accompanied me for the day. We walked at certain places, hopped on the bus to the areas that we wanted to go, then hopped off and walked again...we're lucky that it's a fine day, not too hot and not too cold =)

Welcome to Rottnest Island =)

At Parker Point...see the sea waters in two colours

Nice view

Another nice one...breathtaking

Lighthouse

We saw a few of these marsupials called quokka

Walking, walking...

This tree is called Wind Sculpture...it's green on one side and grey on the other side

Nice beach colours

Saw this big bird too, at shallow water!

Rottnest Island is 30 minutes ferry ride from Fremantle. To get to Fremantle, we took an hour bus ride from the bus stop near Curtin Uni...by the time we reached Bryan's house, we were all exhausted...but lucky that we have people preparing dinner for us =)

The lovely dinner - Sweet and sour chicken, ABC soup, vege, taufu, luncheon meat fried with egg, fish with bean curd sauce, spaghetti with carbonara sauce...and rice too

Day 3: Swan Valley

Swan Valley - wineries, chocolate factory, honey farm etc

We rented a car and Ryan was our driver for the day (again)!

Rows of grape trees

Green grapes...not ripe yet

Wine tasting...we went wine tasting at 3 or 4 wineries..got a bit dizzy at the 2nd winery, luckily we went to chocolate factory after that

The largest winery at the region - Sandalford

They even have cute stuff to hold wines

Jump high!

Next stop: Margeret River Chocolate Factory

Their chocolate selection...

More chocolates...

We had a nice warm chocolate drink there too =)

Lunch shared with Ling Weng...fine dining

Mondo Nougat Factory

The car is filled with different kinds of nougat

Passed by a christmas tree farm on the way...REAL christmas trees =)

Highlight of the day: Moon Sun Rise! (Bryan 2008)
It's actually moon rise + sun set but he was so excited to tell us that it's moon sun rise LOL

Our dinners wahaha

We went to UWA (University of Western Australia) at night too...

One of the buildings in UWA. Very nice right? Like Babylon...Egypt...those kind of places. WHY doesn't our uni have this kind of building??

As the night is still young, we went to Mill Point to have a night view of the City of Perth, then went to the casino to have a look =P

Went back home feeling tired but satisfied =)

Our 收获 for the day:

- 9 bottles of wine
- gifts of honey (3 different types in each gift pack)
- nobody bought chocolates because it's kinda expensive
- 3kg of nougats
- good experience of wine tasting (I knew more about wine now hehe)
