Christmas eve!

Went to Li Shan's house for BBQ. Sze Ping came and fetched me as we both didn't know exactly where her house is (so might as well explore and find out together =P). Apparently we were the earliest to reach~

Colourful and yummy

I found this really cute =)

Group pics:

Everyone's in!

It's great to have this gathering as it's been quite a long time since I have fun with so many people (Okay la, not really many as not everybody is around KB but it's sufficient! =D) Thanks to Li Shan who organised this BBQ, the food was great and it was really a great opportunity to take photos =)

First midnight out + dong zhi

21-12-2007 --> My first time going out late and coming back home after midnight (I'm such a good girl, so... =P)! Thanks to my dear friend Yun who called me at 10.30pm and Tze Xian who kept on pestering (你来那,我不管!) and at last I joined them at the 24-hour KFC beside Pantai Timur. Zia En and another friend were queueing up to order food, there were many people inside even though it's late at night. It took a while for me to realise that us four girls (the other is a guy) were wearing GREEN! What a coincidence =)

Me and my faithful pal aka driver Yun

22-12-2007 --> 冬至. Made tang yuan with my sisters while my grandma boiled them.

I found this looked like a pink necklace.

Green, red, white tang yuan

Our hands - guess which is mine!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Water gone!

I know it's kinda late to blog this, but the flood has subsided! That was actually a few days ago but I think there're still some parts out on the streets that are flooded. Luckily the water didn't 'go into' my house this year, but it was high enough for us to make precautions. First of all, almost everything downstairs were moved upstairs (except furnitures). I never realise that my house has soooooo many BOOKS! Textbooks, references and latihan etc from my old school days were still around! =.= Kinda 怀旧 to look back at old stuff. Next, the piano.

Notice the bricks under the piano? As my dad was not around and I was not strong enough to lift up the piano with my mom, we asked for a Malay worker's help. He and my mom lifted the piano while I quickly inserted the bricks underneath. Quite troublesome, eh?

Some of the flower pots in my mom's garden.

All up in the swing!

The flood....

How it caused the 'disaster' in the garden area

And this..

It's troublesome when there's flood coz it hinders us from going out. 'The bridge there will be jam like shit coz of the cars those people parked' (Quoted). As you know, there's a bridge that connects the area I'm living in to the main roads, and after the bridge there's some lorong that are low areas and frequently flooded, so the people staying there would usually park their cars ALONG the bridge, both sides of the bridge to the extent that there's only one single lane for moving cars to cross the bridge!! Terrible right?

And that's also the reason I didn't go out with my friends. Terperuk dalam rumah sahaja.

Now that the flood has subsided, everything is back to normal but as it's nearly end of the year, it's time to clean the house....

Briefly..

It's been more than 2 weeks since I last updated my blog! Well, I have been in KL for the past 2 weeks and have just returned KB 2 days ago. Went to Langkawi with my family; it's been a long time since we traveled together (apart from going to KL every end of the year holidays). I rarely online when I am/was in KL as the only Internet connection available is in my cousin's room; I don't want to kacau her + I don't like using the keyboard because of some 'loose' keys. That's the reason you don't see me in MSN for the past 2 weeks...haha...

While in KL, I met up with some friends studying in IMU and also college friends. We exchanged gifts - animal toys as we had promised each other earlier. I didn't really go shopping around in KL, I only went to Mid Valley (twice, first time with family and second time to meet Ling Weng and Siaw Tze) and Sungei Wang + Low Yat. Bought my external hard disk drive there, hehe...more storage space to store photos!

2 days ago Chien, Yun, Chui Shen and Zia En came to my house. Went to eat ikan and sotong bakar at Kebun Sultan after about 2 hours chatting....Mmmm, it's been a long time since I last ate ikan bakar~

Tomorrow I'm going to listen to ceramah....first step to learn driving!

Selamat pulang ke tanahair

I reached Malaysia on 14th November at 5.45am. The flight took about 8 hours and all I did during the flight was playing games (besides sleeping but it's not as comfortable as sleeping on a bed =P) . My dad was at KLIA to pick me up. He hugged me and said 'Welcome back'. We chat a lot on the way back to my relative's house in Sri Petaling. We had dim sum for breakfast but I did not eat a lot because I did not have appetite. Ever since finishing exam my sleeping and eating patterns jumbled up because of time constraint - I only had less than 4 days before going back. I spent a lot of time on packing; I slept at almost 5am for three consecutive days.

The first thing I did was to give a surprise to my dear friend
Siew Ting. I lied to her about one month plus ago that I would come back on 20th November, which is the day she'll finish her exams. All this while I had been planning carefully; informing whoever likely to chat with her or contact with her, told them my plans and asked them not to let her know the exact date of me coming back to Malaysia. I even asked Christine to help me make sure that she would be at home at Vista Komanwel that morning. My plan went smoothly as I went to look for her at noon. I called her mobile with my Maxis number and said ‘开门’ and hang up. (Apparently she also said '你在哪里’ but we didn't hear what both of us said to each other =.=). I waited for quite sometime but she didn't open the door. What I heard was that she was talking with her housemates and checking the dates, something like ‘今天十四号?!’ to confirm the date. I was laughing in my heart when I heard that. As I was sweating and could not wait any longer, I simply said, ‘你再不开门我就走了哦’ (again, she didn't hear this) but coincidentally she opened the door. She screamed when she saw me, screaming at me while I just smiled. My trick/plan worked!! She gave me a hug and led me in the house while her housemates came out to see what happened. Christine was still having class and I already told her earlier that we would be having lunch together. Meanwhile, I chat with Siew Ting and told her that 'the whole world knows when I'm coming back except you'. I brought them Krispy Kreme doughnuts, chocolates and some souvenirs. It's so nice to see your friends' happy faces =D After Christine came back from uni, they brought me to have lunch at the IMU canteen. Li Xian called me after that and we chat a while. Everyone's busy preparing for exam!

Christine and me

Me and Siew Ting

In the evening, I went to visit Angelene (all of them stayed close to each other at Vista Komanwel apartments). ‘可以抱抱先吗?’ was the first thing she said when she saw me. As planned earlier, she bought nasi lemak for me and we chat the whole night. She also made barley drink for me! It's really cooling as I was feeling hot and sweating ever since I reached Malaysia. I gave her souvenirs from Melbourne while she gave me some souvenirs from Greece - it was like an exchange of gifts, haha!

Me and my guardian angel

Krispy Kreme! Mmmmm....

I bought a dozen of assorted doughnuts =D

Heat it up for 8 seconds if you want it hot!

Oh well, it's been a long time since I saw anyone of them. Yesterday I came back to KB and my friends namely Chui Shen, Wei Yong and Li Shan came to visit me. There have been a lot of changes to my
house. More paintings, photos, pets (2 dogs, 2 rabbits), decorative items, 装饰品 etc...I think the only places in my house without changes are the kitchen and the toilets, LOL...

Exam aftermath =D

Alright, time to update my blog again! Yesterday we just had our first-and-last paper (we only have one written paper for exam) in the morning and the exam venue was at Caulfield Racecourse. It's a nice place and the 'exam hall' was facing towards the racecourse where you could see people training with horses. The exam was at 9.30am and we reached there more than an hour early =.= coz we took the 7.30am Monash University shuttle bus from Clayton campus and I thought that we would need about an hour to reach Caulfield, but instead the journey took only about 20-30 minutes. So as expected no one was around the exam halls yet except us!

I received quite a lot of messages wishing me good luck for the exam, and I wanna thank everyone for their wishes, people who prayed for me, and those who shared their nicely + neatly organised notes.

And now we are FREE! This signifies that we are REALLY 20% to becoming a doctor! We went to Clayton town after the exam to buy groceries to cook lunch for our VIP guests the next day (which is today). We also bought a cake to celebrate Daniel's birthday. We had a late lunch at Nando's and we were so full that most of us did not even have dinner after that. At night about 11pm, we celebrated Daniel's birthday and he was like an 'oh my god' expression with his hand over his forehead when he opened the door and saw the cake =P [Happy birthday, 老大牛] We had Zepeng as our entertainer of the night who entertained us with his mixed languages (Hokkien and Cantonese) as he's learning the languages.

Us waiting outside of Yeu Sheng's room...

Stratching his head while we sang birthday songs (3 languages)? =P

After celebration, Yu Wan and me went back to make jelly and the custard base for our triffle the next day while Chau Wang, who was hungry and eating macoroni, accompanied us while reading some notes =.= (Can you be like a normal student? - Huong 2007) It was past 1am and we were dead tired after grocery shopping in Clayton in the afternoon. First time being in the kitchen past midnight after such a long few months staying at the halls!

----------------------------------------------------

Our VIP guests today were the people who invited us to have reunion dinner together at during CNY eve at the beginning of this year, when we were still new and just arrived Australia. They are adults with a child-like heart; some of them have married and some of them are still studying at university but all of us get along well. They impressed me with their warm welcome and generosity, not to mention their 'sporting'-ness and friendliness and sense of humour.

We invited them for a lunch with all of us at the halls today, the main chefs being Chau Wang, Yu Wan, Ryan, Yun Ying and me! =D It was really everyone's effort in making this gathering a success and fun one, thanks to everyone who helped in buying and carrying groceries, preparing the ingredients, frying, baking, cooking (dishes and rice), washing and cleaning. We started at about 10am and our 6 VIP guests were expected to arrive at 1pm. We took quite some time in preparing the ingredients - cutting, washing, mixing and stirring. We were short of utensils (we only had one knife, a few plates and bowls, one pot and 2 pans available for cooking other dishes as 2 pots were already being used to cook bak kut teh)! The whole Roberts kitchen was like our own kitchen. We were moving and doing our tasks at normal pace when suddenly Chau Wang said 'we have half an hour left'! How shocked we were that time flew so fast. Suddenly the atmosphere changed to a 'rush-hour' kind of atmosphere, we quickened our pace in the kitchen while Yun Ying was rushing to borrow some utensils and to ask our friends at Deakin Hall to cook rice. However, we were relieved when there was a phone call saying that our guests would be late. Yet we finished cooking in time and oh my, how nice the dishes look on the plates!

5 dishes!

Desserts~

Finally our guests came (except for Augusta who came later). They were Willie, Richard, Rebecca, Sarah and 馨平. There were 18 of us altogether and our 6 guests had a go at remembering our names (there were 12 of us - 12 names! =P) It had been quite some time since we had such gathering/eating meals together, the last time being Yu Wan's birthday, also at the same place - East common room has been our place for big gatherings. We also took photos at the lawn outside the common room. It's a nice warm day!

November...

OSCE is finally over! I'll remember the sound of the bell (so called as the 'death bell' LOL) and the nervousness while in the briefing room waiting for our turns...the undoubtedly high stress level, sweaty palms and cold at the same time, heart bumping at highest rate while a fifth year student was there to give us our barcodes while 'entertaining' us. How surprised we were when we knew that he's just 21 years old!! 21 OMG!!! And he'll graduate this year while most of us will only be in 2nd year when we're 21 (3rd year for me)!!

Anyway after OSCE we went back to the halls and someone suggested playing frisbee at the field again. And yeah this time we really played frisbee...Ultimate frisbee as they called it. However, today's weather was not really sunny too; while we were half way running and catching frisbee, the rain started pouring down. It's just drizzle for a short while then it was sunny again so we didn't bother much. Few minutes later the rain started pouring again and we decided that it's time to get back or else we would fall sick. As we didn't have umbrellas or anything that could cover our head, we just merely WALKED in the rain back to the halls...it's the first time I actually soaked myself in the rain and not wanting to find any cover since we were already wet. Haha!

Us taking pic in the rain...

After that we went to have dinner at Mess Hall, chatting as usual and we even played guessing the word game!

One more written exam/paper to go on 9th Nov!

An Angel prayer.. =)

"Dear Lord, I commit Jessica my dearest sis into Your mighty hands.

Lord, You understand how she feels now, the worriedness and the anxieties.. Lord You have bring her so far, and this time I pray again that You can lay Your hand upon her again.

Let her feel Your holy spirit is with her.

Remove her nervousness and grant her with a good understanding as she does her revision.

Lord, give her good memory to remember what she has studied so that she will apply them appropriately on exam later.

Father I also ask that You will grant her with good rest every night and feel fresh the next morning to fight the battle for You and eventually bring glory to Your name.

I just pray that You will calm her now and let her not feel stress or scared about the giant which is the exam for You promise us that You will help us and just have faith in You.

So finally Lord, I pray she will continue to place her trust in You and draw strength from You when she feels tired or weak for You are always a caring and loving Father.

Thank You Lord, in Jesus name I pray, Amen..."

She typed the prayer sentence by sentence, choosing her words carefully as she went, and by the time she finished her last sentence my eyes were already soaking wet. She always made me feel touched with little things that she had done. She was patient with me though she was busy. We were so far from each other but it's great that we can be connected by one God, she said.

During the holidays last year I read a book and came across such an angel prayer..

"Angel dear, my guardian dear, to whom its love commits you near, ever this day be at my side to light and guard, to rule and guide."

Here I'd like to thank God for letting me to meet and recognise my guardian angel early in my life. I'd also like to thank you, my guardian angel, for everything you have done, and I pray that your prayers will be answered.. =) You are always my guardian angel *hugss hugss*

We should do this again!

Today we went to the big field to have some fun. Planned to play frisbee but the wind was too strong so we only played frisbee for a while. So I went to the sports centre to borrow a soccer ball as suggested by Zepeng. We weren't playing soccer - we were playing 'Captain Ball'. Some of us had a go at throwing Yu Wan's boomerang (her birthday present which we bought from Sydney!).

Again, Yu Wan being the photographer...
From left: Nooi Hoay, Chean Ying, Cheng Khoon, Ryan, Zepeng. Front row: me and Yun Ying.

After that we went to have dinner at Mess Hall. The last time we had dinner together at Mess Hall was the day when all of us came back from rural placement. It's great to have everyone eating and chatting together...the sense of 'connectedness' (Hassed 2007) =P

----------------------------------------------------

Today's my dad's birthday. I called him in the afternoon and wished him Happy Birthday. He sounded surprised as he went 'Ohhh..' so I asked him, 'Did you forget??' And he said, 'Aiyah, when you are until a certain age you wouldn't want to remember your birthday...' I jokingly said, 'Why? Coz too old already?' 'Yalah...'

LOL!!!

Last day of uni

This also signifies that we have completed 20% of our course! Well, almost actually, we still have OSCE and the end-of-year exam to go. And after that....3 months summer break wooohoo!! (Okay okay I shouldn't be thinking so far ahead but I can't help it!! Who won't?!)

Last week was quite a busy week, been looking around for houses with 3 of my friends. We spent some effort looking around, walking under the hot sun, inspecting houses...and finally till early this week our decision was: we're not moving out next year. The whole MISU gang will be together for one more year at the Halls (except one or two) before we go our separate ways (different hospitals) in 3rd Year. (Again, I would like to say time really flies.)

It's the start of our 2 weeks of study break now. Imagine staying in room whole day and only go out for meal times and taking bath or to answer the call of nature.....will I get *emo*?? o.0

Efficiency

The light in my room was getting dim. I sensed that I would somehow need to report to the office to change the light these few days. Minutes passed by, and the light started to flicker. OMG, I thought. Such coincidence?! I checked the time; it was 6.45pm. The MRS office was open till 9pm. I got my jacket and went down, walking straight to the office while thinking that the fluorescent light tube would only be changed by tomorrow morning (within working hours). The lady at the office asked me to fill a form and said that she would send someone to change it in an hour or so. I was surprised but thankful at the same time. Surprised that the workmen still worked at that hour; thankful that I could study in my room at night.

While waiting for the man to come, I watched Ratatouille in the dark. I remember the times in Akasia when there were repairs needed to be done in my unit (door, lights etc) and my housemate and I would go to the Cemara office and report them. But they would only send the workmen to repair them the next day or sometimes a few days later.

As I was halfway through the movie there was a knock on my door. I opened the door and there stood a 50-something-year-old 'repairman' in his workman uniform, asking me, 'Is this the twilight zone?' How interesting! After changing the light tube, I thanked him and he said 'It's our job' with a smile.

Such efficiency =)

Frisbee!!

We didn't have a lecture after 3pm today, so we decided to play frisbee for one hour!!

At the beginning...let's do some exercise...

Now let's start! Here are the participants of the game:

Yeu Sheng (see that she's trying to catch the frisbee)

Me!

Chean Ying

Ryan

Yu Wan

Yun Ying

Lin

Halfway through the game, our frisbee landed on top of the roof so we had to go up and get it...

Yu Wan and Ryan on both sides of the fence

Continue... (notice that we took off our jackets!) Seems that frisbee is not too bad an exercise for us to sweat =P

I won't let you grab it!

Chean Ying again....without jacket...

Yun Ying without jacket...

Let's end this post with this cool picture taken by Yeu Sheng...
