HapPy bIrThdAy Ting Ting dear dear!!

Today is Siew Ting's birthday! Yoyo, 19 already oh! And when it's her birthday, it means that this year is going to end soon... kinda fast..

I recalled those days in Semester 1 (last year) when we were staying at Block 7 of Akasia, I barely knew
Siew Ting and Siaw Tze but they came to my room often (to look for Amelene?).. There's when I got to know Siew Ting - a sweet and friendly cute gal! There's something that drove me to think that, hmm, I like this gal... Never it struck me that she would become one important and special person to me. Throughout the year our friendship grew and we became close friends. Or more, intimate friends...

Ting Ting, I'm glad that we cherished our days together so far...Thank you for being such a nice friend..You open your heart to me, and I open mine... Words that you said, like when you said that you are always with me, I know that you mean it, and I really appreciate you saying that as it meant a lot to me. You tell me about your feelings, and I tell you about my dreams.. You said that people tend to think a lot during the holidays and you are one of them, but I guess I'm also like that (similar personality?).. You lend me your ears and I lend you mine, that is the most important thing to me~

Remember last time we used to call you nicknames? You didn't seem to mind, and you responded in a cute way instead.. even when we teased you! And that's what I like about you... your cuteness and sweetness! And also SS-ness...haha! And I love you because of your showering love and care as you are always there for me! =D '
This is what friends are for..' (a phrase from my mom)

Too bad that I can't buy you a birthday cake now... I know that's what you want.. If I meet you in January I'll buy you whatever cake you want okay? Hehe~ Smile more ya, coz you have a dazzling smile that will brighten up anybody's day!

Once again, haPpY bIrThdAy dear, with lots of hugs and kisses from me at West Malaysia to you at East Malaysia.. lalala~ enjoy your day to its fullest ya!

Christmas Day just passed like that.

I woke up yesterday morning and saw mom walking to my room. I wished her a 'Happy Birthday' and told her to look at my youngest sis who was still sleeping soundly in her bed. So it's Christmas and my mom's birthday as well, haha!

Afternoon my sis, dad and I went out to buy some things needed for the dinner. We planned to do a mini barbecue (using electrical bbq) to cook the mutton, beef and chicken wings together with sparkling juice (yummy!). We already bought a birthday cake from Secret Recipe for mom a day earlier. Guess what cake... I think
Siaw Tze will know this, it's the marble cheese cake!

So three of us went to the central market to buy lettuce, potatoes and chicken wings. My dad easily got a parking, and my sis asked, 'Why everytime we go out with you, sure got parking space one... then everytime we go out with mummy, sure very difficult to find parking space...' Dad said, 'Yea, I think I have a guardian angel watching over me... you know that day when I drove back the car tyre
poncek while I was still in Gua Musang, but I still managed to get back home like nothing happened.' (Gua Musang is about 3 hours away from my house.) Wow...must be nice to have a guardian angel watching over you eh? =D

After getting our things from the market, we went to The Store to buy coleslow, milk and photo albums. When we got back home it's already about 3.30pm and dad started to marinate the meat while I arranged my photos and put them into the photo album. I began to make mashed potato at 5.30pm, boiling the potatoes to make them soft, then adding milk, butter and salt while mashing them. Finally it's a big yellow nice paste ready to be served. Mom made coleslow and while dad was barbecue-ing, the rest of us wore our Christmas hats and took photos. =P

We celebrated mom's birthday and ate dinner which started at 9pm, enjoying the good food and drinks.. after dinner I played Monopoly with my two sisters.

So Christmas Day ended like that.

r i n g r i n g !

Yesterday while we were finishing our dinner the house phone rang.

Dad and my sisters had already finished theirs and were in the kitchen.

As my youngest sis went to pick up the phone, I simply said, "Everytime the house phone rings, it'll either be 'Hello 请问Rachel有在吗?' or 'Hello 请问燕萍有在吗?' surely don't have 'Hello 请问Jessica有在吗?'... "

As I finished my words and continued eating the chicken, my sis came out and said, "Your phone la!" I turned and asked her, ''Who?" She looked at me and said, "YOU LAH!!!"

I was so surprised!!

i love photos~

I went to develop photos yesterday, altogether 275 photos cost me RM110. Those include photos taken in INTEC and Akasia (bus stop, study room bla bla), Sarawak trip and grand dinner. As I browsed through the photos, memories flashed across my mind... and I laughed at the funny pics we took in Mulu!

See this... this is normal pose..

Then we started to go crazy as we wanted to take cute pics, so we sort of forced the boys to do what we requested... anyway after much struggling, they finally agreed and cooperated in producing these 'beautiful' pics.. =P

~Flower~ Haha, Ryan looks like a girl to me in this pic!

Another pic of us acting cute... girlish.. hahaha..

Acting 'geram'..but we're smiling! Chean Ying looks like little girl with two pony tails!

And on the last day before we left Mulu for Miri, we went to Cafe Mulu to take a few pics.

This one... Ryan looks like sitting Buddha, but is he covering his nose because of the smell of our socks? Haha~

p/s: Ryan & Wong: Sorry if you guys mind about me uploading these pics... but this shows that both of you are really sporting! Isn't that nice? See at least we have something that can remind us of the crazy acts we did in Mulu!! =D

I'm b o r e d .

Strange that I feel bored at home? This is because my form 6 friends are in Taiwan now, they joined a tour... and there's one friend in Japan, he joined YE... that means, me alone in KB???

Playing games all day = in front of the computer screen/tv screen all day is no fun to me unless I haven't played the game before. Well, you know what I mean...the games that I have, I have already finished them all...

Reading books? No way! I have been reading books the whole year... novels don't seem to please me nowadays.

Playing the piano? Err...anyone out there got any new songs? I think I can memorize the rhythm/fingerings/notes etc of the songs I played, so if I play them again and again it'll be like....duh....(OK la, I admit that I'm lazy...)

And, I miss my college friends.

YES I GOT MY SACE RESULTS.

I finally got my results - which is the same as Chean Ying! Woohoo~!!

Many people must be super happy right now. Jumping, screaming (doubt it) and cannot sleep.

For me? I don't know, just feeling tired after online-ing for 5 hours and got my results at about 10am. And hungry...

Christmas tree!

Anyone who has been to my house surely knows that the christmas tree in my house is there all year long. My mom usually switches on the christmas lights when it's evening, and the living room will become bright and have a lively atmosphere around it. The christmas tree is 6 feet tall and has been with us since I was young and when we were still living at Tanjung Chat. I don't know when my mom bought it, but even it is already more than 10 years old (yes my house has a lot of things which are more than 10 or 20 years due to my mom's housekeeping skills) the christmas tree still looks brand new to me. It's the traditional green colour type like those you see in movies or cartoons.

And why do I want to talk about my christmas tree?

It's because I just re-decorated it few days ago! Mom bought some new ornaments from The Summit and two new sets of christmas chasing lights. After dusting the christmas tree and taking out the old ornaments to wash, she put the chasing lights around the christmas tree while I started to put the ornaments in. My sisters said they wanted to help but one went upstairs to watch tv while the other one doing homework (-.-). So it's me alone who decided where to put the angels, the bears, snowman, reindeers, strawberries, apricorns, apples etc.. When it's finally done, the whole christmas tree looks lively again with the running lights and glittering ornaments. I love it!

Results are out!

Congrats to those who did so well in the exam!! (you guys really are terror!)

I still can't check mine, the website is super jam right now.

Hopefully I can get good results! =D

Me: eat people one oh, the cat's far relative...
Boon: is it?? wah so scary ah, I have to hide lo..
Cheng Khoon: Then I also have to hide lo..
Conney: (to Cheng Khoon) you no need la, you are not human! (laughs)

Basically we had much fun during the whole trip though it's quite tiring in Mulu, having to wake up early in the morning to explore the caves and appreciate the wonderful stalactites, stalamites, columns, rock formations and river... and also the creatures in the caves such as bats, crickets, spiders. In Mulu, we are exposed to the nature while in Miri and Kuching, we met our friends. Ling Weng and Siaw Tze drove us around in Miri during the half day on 7th December before our flight to Kuching at night. In Kuching, Roger, Boon, Merlin, Amelene's parents and Kia Miang's dad drove us around. Conney, Penny and me stayed at Amelene's house while the other three gals stayed at Kia Miang's house. haPpY biRthdaY ATG!!

Yeah it's Amelene's birthday today! Well ATG stands for.... Amelene The Great! Haha~

I put that title as my personal msg in MSN, and this Bernard Kua said ATG is Ah Tan Gilo... well it's Ah Buu's birthday as well! Haha.. (Ah Buu's surname is Tan, so..)

OK enough for the crap..back to Amelene..

She's my roommate in Akasia for one and a half years. The first time I met her was during the registeration on 30th June 2005 at Cemara office. At first glance I thought that she's a mixed (Chinese + ang-mo?) coz her nose is quite sharp, and she spoke English to me first, asking what room I was in. As I was holding many documents in my hand, we took a seat near the corridor and she helped me checked my room number. How happy we were when we knew that we were in the same room! Fate fate~

So life went on... everybody in AUSMAT surely knows how's life in hostel is like, so I don't have to describe here. Just wanna say a big thank you to Amelene for always bringing joy and fun to me in the 'house' by telling craps and jokes, singing songs, acting cute =P She knows more people in AUSMAT compared to me, due to her keponess friendliness la...haha...

And also thanks for your cooking, your comfort, love and care as a dear roommate and friend... I'll cherish the moments that we spent together... they're the great and wonderful memories to be appreciated =) You're really understanding and full of warmth (this one you sure know la, sit a while on the chair and the chair will become warm, hehe) just kidding k... remember the day you had your spec maths final exam and I was alone at home, then you came back, opening the door and said, 'Honey I'm home!' now that really surprised me!

The days staying at your house in Kuching were fun... finally I had the chance to see your doggie.. the dog which looks much like the owner..haha..not only me say this, so don't scold me oh!

Hmm...today's your birthday, so enjoy it to the fullest ya! Ask for more presents...hahaha =P

the day i took the most pictures

This year of AUSMAT has finally come to an end. We had our AUSMAT grand dinner at the Palace of the Golden Horses Hotel near the Mines Resort City on 27th November 2006. After our JPA briefing and psychology camp in the morning, we went back to our hostel in the afternoon at about 3pm and started to get ready. My mum was already at my hostel waiting to do make-up for me and some of my friends, namely Siaw Tze, Ling Weng, Josephine and Michelle. I took my bath and my mum started to put the foundation on my face while waiting for my friends to arrive. At 4pm Conney and Ling Weng arrived at my doorstep. Conney did make-up herself. All of us did not plan to set our hair at any salon. A few minutes later Josephine arrived, followed by Siaw Tze and then Michelle. We dressed up and it was really fun to see us in nice elegant clothes. Haha… Josephine and Siaw Tze who rebond their hair earlier looked like mother and daughter as their dress were also black in colour. Conney wore a white dress while Ling Weng in black. Michelle’s RM399 dress was a purple one. While my mum was doing make-up for my friends, I received a call from Zhi Han requesting for my mum to help make-up for Penny as the people at the salon in SACC Mall did not have enough time. So Penny came back and climbed the many flight of stairs up to my room which was at the highest floor, looking totally exhausted. Christine, who was in her room at the 4th floor of the 6th entrance (mine at 2nd entrance) called for help for someone to zip up her dress. As I was totally ready and did not have anything else to do, I went there and helped her (not to zip up her dress but to help put glitters on her back). After that I went back to my room, sweating a little and rushing as it was already past 5.30pm. The buses would leave the hostel at 5.30pm and we had to hurry.

I dragged myself to the bus stop as it was my first time wearing high heels. I was surprised to see Zhi Han (I could not recognise her as she was wearing contact lenses) and the rest at the guard house. Apparently the guard would not let us out as we did not wear according to the so-called strict dress code – long sleeves and long pants/dress till the ankle. Though my dress was long, I was not allowed to go out as I did not have anything to cover my arms (till the wrist). The shawl alone was not enough. Just then our heroes appeared. Some guys came with coats in their hands, so we wore their coat (long enough to cover our arms till the wrist) and walked out of the gate to the bus stop. However my friends who wore knee-length dresses still were not allowed to go out. Michelle and I walked out with Chean Yeaw following behind. We stepped into the bus, which was the last bus going to the hotel and realised that it was already 6.30pm. We would be late, I thought. We anxiously waited for the rest of my friends who were ‘trapped’ by the guard. A while later, whisperings of ‘oh my god’ could be heard and I was shocked to see my friends in jackets and jeans while still wearing their dress on. So that was how they got pass the guard, in a terrible way… When they got up the bus all of us clapped and cheered. The bus driver started to drive and about an hour later we reached our destination due to the traffic congestion on the way there.

I kept wondering how would Siew Ting looked after she set her hair as I did not meet her since I got back to hostel in the afternoon. I spotted her as soon as I stepped into the 6-star hotel, and my, she really looked beautiful and matured like a princess. Ling Weng, Conney, Siaw Tze and Chean Ying went to the toilet to take off their jeans. The rest of us were busy taking photos. We registered our names and got a pencil and two booklets each. We went into the royal ballroom half an hour later and found our table. My table was table 8 at the right corner near to the dessert. The dinner was a buffet style. The function began at 8.30pm with the arrival of VIPs and an Indian dance by Arwin. She really danced well. After a few speeches we were motioned to get up and start taking food from the trays. Everyone was very hungry. Throughout the dinner there were some performances such as singing, video presentation, band performance and also a magic show which was a little bit boring. We also got our AUSMAT yearbook. There were two sessions of lucky draw but none of my tablemates got any prizes. I thought that my tablemates were the ‘liveliest’ of all as we kept taking photos and talking without paying much attention to the magic show. I like the video presentation made by Yeam Shin Yao and the song sang by AUSMAT Idol Jia Huei. There was even a catwalk by some lecturers! It was really fun to see them posed on stage. Hehe… it showed that our lecturers had their cute and funny side! Finally it was the announcement of the prom king and prom queen. A few guys and gals were nominated and asked to do a catwalk. The results were: Roger was the prom king and Yi Chin was the prom queen.

The dinner came to its end at about 1am. Everyone started to take more photos again, with lecturers, prom king and queen, and also on stage. We went back by the bus provided at 1.30am and reached our hostel at 2.30pm, totally sleepy and tired and suffering from leg-pain. Anyway I really enjoyed the dinner; it’s the most anticipated and most important activity in our AUSMAT life after all!

What a day!

It was Monday 27th November 2006 and all JPA-sponsored students under AUSMAT program had to attend a briefing and psychology camp held by JPA. The function was supposed to start at 8.30am but the officers arrived one hour late, making us wasting time waiting. Initially they talked about some things that we had known – about TER and universities etc. The good news is that we can have a 50% discount when we do our passport with a letter from JPA which will be given to us. At about 10.30am the lady officer started to give us our reports on our psychology test which we had taken earlier in April. The report contained an analysis on our psychology, such as nervousness, depression, dominant (confidence), self-discipline etc and the score was based on a 100 mark basis, I think. I got 4 for nervousness, according to the explanation of the officer this meant that I am calm whenever I am handling things (quite true since when facing exams I seldom feel tension, haha =P). I couldn’t really remember what I got for other traits but I did remember I got a 98 for self-discipline, which shocked me a bit. Haha… maybe the report got some false points. Who knows right?

Well, what surprised most of us more was when the lady officer announced that she had called a tailor to take our body measurements to make blazer for us at 11am. She even told us that the cost to make a blazer is RM400, which includes a bag (I dunno what kind of bag, by the way). Most of us were rushing as many students had to be called for counseling based on the results of the psychology test. Imagine 300+ students waiting to take for measurement. What made matters worse was that there was only one man taking measurement! He was a Chinese in his 60s and there were only his wife and him. They distributed forms for us to fill in our names and soon there was a pile of sheets stacked up. Everybody wanted to be measured earlier coz each one did not want to go to school the next day (just to take measurement, for goodness sake).

I passed up mine and waited for my turn. That was already about 12pm, and I waited patiently together with my friends for our turns. ‘Lo and behold’, there were people who cut/jumped queue!! They put their forms on top of ours and they got to be measured first. The situation was really tense as everyone was rushing to prepare for the grand dinner which would be held at night and the bus would leave at 5.30pm, meaning that we had to get ready before that. Some of my friends had even made appointment with Thomas & Guys Salon at SACC Mall to set their hair and do make-up. We were quite angry when we heard that the people who jumped queue were boys who did not need much time to do make-up or set hair or wear high-heels or do anything that need extra time. We gave chance to those who had to take plane the next morning back home to measure theirs first, but for those who were not under this condition, it was really too much. One person took about 10 minutes to be measured, and as so many people were talking, checking forms, waiting…to sum it up in one word, it was so luan. I pitied the uncle who had to endure the heat (there was something wrong with the air cond) and had to take measurements, at the same time asking the students to wait and saying out the measurements to his wife who wrote them down on the forms.

Out of the blue a Sikh guy stood up and raised his voice with much anger saying that he could not bear any longer. As he was saying about people jumping queue, his eyes were looking at Conney and me who planned to check when would be our turn and also some guys behind us. He even scolded Chean Ying who was being measured that time, saying that she jumped queue by putting hers on top of the forms. It was really scary as he was a tall and quite big-sized guy, talking with such loudness which made me irritated. Poor Chean Ying got scolded for something she did not do. The guy said that he would slap and punch the next person who jumped queue if he saw anyone touching the stack of forms. Somehow the situation calmed down when uncle said he would make sure of that. It was already 2.20pm then, so Conney and I decided to go back to our hostel to get ready for grand dinner and take our measurements the next morning. We left the classroom and got on the bus while discussing about what happened just now. A few minutes later Chean Ying walked into the bus and took a seat beside us. We chatted a little, and then she said that Ryan’s car could still fit in two more people. As the sky was turning dark (sign of rain), Conney and I followed Chean Ying to find Ryan. It was then we realised Ryan had to fetch 6 people back to hostel – one guy and 5 gals including us. So the five of us squeezed behind in his car as the rain started pouring down heavily. We got back to our hostel safely, took our bath and started to prepare ourselves for grand dinner.

Well, the next post will be on grand dinner, some unexpected things which happened before we left our hostel and some funny things during dinner. I don’t want to make this post too long, hehe~

Somehow we just drifted apart.

Sometimes things are not like we expect them to be
Sometimes things go on in a way that you don’t like
Sometimes things just don’t happen in a nice and beautiful way

Somehow we contact each other less often
Somehow we just don’t talk to each other as much as we used to
Somehow we just smile and say a simple hi to each other and that’s it
Somehow our paths crossed but we never meet
Somehow we just forget how we used to have fun together

Sometimes I wonder is it me or is it you
Sometimes I stare blankly into the big dark sky
Sometimes I am alone in a dark room thinking of you
Sometimes I don’t get it
Sometimes I want to ask why but I cannot get any answers
Sometimes I am confused by the way things move on
Sometimes I feel something is missing

Somebody get me outta here
Outta this place, outta these memories…

How do you think of this poem? Comments welcomed =)

FirST day after eXaM

On Thursday morning I followed Ru Xing, Chean Ying, Yeu Sheng, Ling Sing, Hsiu Li and Chien Yen to Sungei Wang. My friends were planning to buy dinner dresses while I was looking for a shawl as I already had a dress. We split into two groups, Ru Xing, Hsiu Li and Chien Yen one group and the rest of us another group. We went into many boutiques, looking up and down at many dresses with different beautiful designs and colours. At one shop I even saw triplets! I was wondering whether they were the three gals from my batch in Chung Hwa or not…the triplets whom most of us know as ‘zhen shan mei’, coz the gals really looked like them! We spent the whole day there while waiting for fate to let us meet with Siew Ting, Conney and Ling Weng (Christine followed them I think), but we did not bump into them at all. Instead we met Ru Xing’s group for two or three times at some boutiques. Guess we had no ‘yuan fen’ with Siew Ting they all that day…

We had a heavy lunch at Nando’s, then continued shopping. I found a shawl that I wanted and bought it at RM31.50 after 10% discount coz Chean Ying and Ling Sing bought their dresses at the same shop. Yeu Sheng bought her dress earlier. I can’t wait to see them wearing their dresses with their accessories and high-heels! It’s so fun to wear nice nice to attend a function…haha~

We walked till our feet were tired. We stepped into a shop selling lamps, pretty and never-seen-before lamps with many kinds of designs. The old lady of the shop talked non-stop with us in Cantonese, introducing the lamps and showed how beautiful they shone out the light…what she said was quite meaningful, ‘the light shines your future and your path to you…’ and later on she talked about the origin of Christmas as there were some small Christmas trees with lights in her shop. While she was talking about the birth of Jesus to Chean Ying and Yeu Sheng, Ling Sing and I were looking at some other lamps…got star-shaped, heart-shaped, lava lamps, lamps that shaped like airplanes, cars etc. Ling Sing bought a red star-shaped lamp as a birthday gift to her friend. By the time we left the shop it was about 5pm, so we continued to shop for high-heel shoes.

Finally we decided to get back to hostel. We went in the first shop we stepped into to have a good look at the accessories to match with the dresses. And guess what… I saw the shawl that I bought – same colour but DIFFERENT price. It was priced at RM19.90 in that shop! OMG… I was like, what the… wasted my RM10. Oh well, I just thought that I gave away that RM10 as donation so that I wouldn’t feel so kek tiok. Hehe~

Back to blogging!

Exam time is over! Yet seriously I didn’t feel extremely happy, not like the time when SPM was over and my friends and I were overjoyed. This time everyone’s feeling after exam is like ‘so-so’ and ‘just normal’. Weird though. Maybe it’s coz we had exam very often, quizzes and topic tests all the time till our feelings after exam became numb. Haha! Anyway I’m glad that I don’t have to face books all day anymore. I’m FREE! Free of memorizing die-hard facts and knowing processes and applications, free of doing statistics, free of drawing chemical structures, free of studying (at the moment).

The last day of exam was Wednesday. After our Chemistry exam in the afternoon, I joined my friends to go Sunway Pyramid to watch movie. There were 8 of us namely Zhi Han, Chean Ying, Yeu Sheng, Ling Sing, Jaishree, Ryan, Shea Chuen and me. We gathered at the bus stop outside Kolej Akasia at 4.15pm and discussed how we should get to our destination – by KTM and later bus or by taxi. Jaishree called up a taxi driver, Encik Zakaria who is known to charge cheap taxi fares. She told him to come and fetch us but she forgot to tell him that there were 8 of us and would need 2 taxis. Zhi Han said, ‘Wah you very smart ar…’ And so Jaishree had to call up the taxi driver again and what we heard she spoke into the phone was something like ‘Bang, bawa dua taxi mari…’ and we burst out laughing. She made us think that he would be driving two taxis. Unfortunately the taxi driver said that he knew no other people that could fetch us, so he would be using his own car instead. We were thinking, ‘wow! Such good service de…’ We waited for a few minutes till a silver Avanza stopped in front of us. There came out Encik Zakaria, a friendly and nice taxi driver. The 8 of us jumped in the car and off we went, enjoying our journey under air-cond and having fun chatting.

Finally we reached Sunway Pyramid. After some discussing about where to have our dinner, we agreed on Sushi King. Poor Chean Ying that she had to follow us coz she did not like (could not) eat raw food. All of us ordered a set meal each which consisted of cooked food and the raw ones were on the moving conveyer belt. Zhi Han took a plate of sasuke cake while Ryan and I took a plate of ‘red sotong’ each. I really love to eat Japanese food! We wolfed down our food in about half an hour as we were hungry. At 6.30pm we rushed off to the cinema to watch The Prestige. Quite complicated at the beginning and confused in the middle, but at the end everything was clear. It was an interesting movie I would say. We even saw Hsiu Li, Chien Yen and Gouri at the cinema. When the movie finished, Zhi Han kept asking us what it was all about in the movie, saying that she could not understand a thing about it. We asked her, ‘you bring your brain in to watch that movie or not? After exam so fast blur liao…’ ‘Aiyo I didn’t bring my brain lah! Faster tell me, why like this…like that…’she replied. =.=

Jaishree went back earlier while Zhi Han accompanied her as she had to catch a bus back home at 10.30pm. The rest 6 of us just simply walked around without any specific purpose. We planned to play bowling but there was a tournament and all the lanes were full. So we went to play video games! (the type that need coins) we played a type of ball on the table game where you have to hit the ball to your opponent’s goal to win. It was really fun. Later we spent the last 2 coins on a basketball game before the guard said that it’s closing time. Chean Ying said that she was hungry, so we walked out of Sunway Pyramid and crossed the road to the other side where there were lots of Chinese food stalls to have some drinks and food. Close to 10.30pm, Chean Ying received an sms from Jaishree asking whether we want Encik Zakaria to fetch us or not…and Chean Ying and my friends were laughing at the sms. I didn’t know what was happening till Shea Chuen asked me, ‘you know what is zakar or not?’ ‘Olor I know that la and I know Encik Zakaria’s name got that word but what has it got to do with the sms?’ Chean Ying then said, ‘Jaishree wrote uncle zakar!’ Adui…*blink*

We went back in Encik Zakaria’s Avanza and reached hostel at about 11pm. So that ended the day after exam~

e X a M

Yesterday my mom forgot to wake my youngest sister up for school. When she woke up it's already about 9am, and she hurriedly went into our bedroom to my sister's bed. She wasn't sure whether my sis's exam was over already or not. Here's the conversation...

Mom: Hey it's 9am already...forgot to wake you up..no need to go to school already la..
Joanne: (blur) har..
Mom: Today got exam or not?
Joanne: (still blur) Got...
Mom: (frightened) What?! Got exam ar? What subject??
Joanne: (very blur) Islam....
Mom: =.="

When my mom told me about it I had a good laugh for a few minutes while I was doing my revision. Well SSABSA finals will start this coming Monday, beginning with ESLS till 15th November which Chemistry is the last subject. After that those who are doing Form 6 will be facing STPM. Guess I won't be able to update my blog during this exam period...

So, GOOD LUCK to all! This sentence simply flashed across my mind... 'Try your best and God will do the rest' (Angelene 2004)

Speaking of Angelene, she's the only one who calls my sister 'Jo', like 'Ah Jo nih?' Jo here Jo there...hahaha..while I prefer to call my sister by her Chinese name =P

* g a s p s *

Found some of these while browsing through the photos in my laptop.

The label ‘dead fish’ was written by my sister, together with the drawing. That was a kind of food you can find during moon cake festival and is not called a dead fish! It’s cute anyway =)

Some of the meat together with the rice bought from Ayamas. It’s actually called ‘honey chicken’ or something like that, but it looked more like ‘char siew’ (pork) to me… =P

p i c s

Well, I dunno why I can't upload any pics to the previous post ' d i n n e r' , so I have to create a new post for these. =.=

The Japanese food in Hilton Hotel...raw fish meat + sotong..

Below: desserts!!!! very nice + creamy... chocolate and cheese...

Pink and orange colour drinks! Each person 2 glasses of these..hehe..

The nice-coloured ice cream but not nice to eat. >.<

This is amazing...big big oysters and prawns all on ice! Oh, they're cooked =)

a u s s i e 5 !

Since starting of this year, I have been viewing my classroom as a kindergarten classroom due to the decoration left by our seniors from Hawkesbury class AUSMAT 16. My classmates did not do any decoration or changes to the decoration left by our seniors, so all the things I’m going to describe are the seniors’ pieces of art work.

See this? This is a paper-made koala bear on the wall at the left side of the whiteboard. I recalled the first day I stepped into the classroom and sat at my seat which is to the right side of the class and is of quite a distance from the koala. Both Siaw Tze and me, being short-sighted and not wearing our specks that time, saw the koala from our seats and thought that it was some kind of rubbish. Cannot see clearly ma. It was till a few days later that we realised it’s a koala! Paise paise…

The river of knowledge’. Actually below these words there’re some more words to form a nice sentence, but then they were all removed by some workers who came to our class to place the boards (like the one below the word ‘knowledge’). Oh ya, see the flag sticking out from the ceiling? There’re lots of Australia and New Zealand flags sticking on our ceiling…cool right?

This is the sea with some fish on the wall at both sides of our classroom. Fish kissing eh? Haha… what do you think?

Ducks in front of bushes holding the sign ‘Hawkesbury’ at the back of our classroom. Some parts missing, though… the duck is cute =)

So that’s all about the decorations in my classroom. Now do you agree with me that it really looks like a kindergarten classroom?

p/s: the door of my classroom is also decorated with shining metallic blue colour paper!

cockroaches.... E W W W!!!

Siew Ting went back Marudi yesterday at the wee hours of the morning. Her flight was at 7.25am. She called the taxi driver to pick her up at 4.30am to go to the airport. However, when it was 10 minutes to 4.30am, she was still not at her block downstairs. Ling Sing, who was to help her carry luggage, was already down there at her block. She called Siew Ting’s phone but then as the phone was outside of her room, Siew Ting did not pick up her call. So Ling Sing called Siaw Tze instead. Siaw Tze, being blur (as always) and shocked by the sudden ringing of her phone, picked up the call and said ‘hello…’ while Ling Sing blurted into the phone, ‘Siew Ting woke up already or not?’ Siaw Tze was puzzled (still blur that time) kept on saying ‘hello…’ and Ling Sing replied with ‘hello’, and this continued for about 6 or 7 times ‘hello’! Luckily she realised that it was late already, and just then Siew Ting rushed out of the room, got ready and left. ‘luckily got ling sing’(Siew Ting 2006). If not she wouldn’t be in time to board the plane! The reason she woke up late was that she stopped the ringing of her alarm clock which was set at 4am I think, and went back to sleep. Haha =P

Later at night Siaw Tze sms-ed me. ‘Yo… lonely gal… alone now? Wanna come to sleep with me? I mean on st’s bed la... haha... want want?’ I replied her, then she persuaded with me with her second sms saying something like ‘…u come here la.. don argue with mummy o.. come come…’ Well I thought, OK then, since both of us would be alone in our rooms. So I brought my toothbrush and toothpaste, some math exercise and graphic calculator to her place. Chean Ying was quite surprised when I arrived at her door, apparently Siaw Tze did not tell her that I was sleeping over at her place. Chean Ying said, ‘Har? Siaw Tze scared to sleep alone is it?’ Hahaha!!! I went in and sat at Siew Ting’s desk to do the math exercise. Siaw Tze was doing some biology exercise while Chean Ying was doing some chemistry exercise. Just then Christine came and gave me my birthday present, which she said should give me one month ago, hehe! She gave me a nice pink photo frame and a bottle with tiny scrolls in which she wrote some wishes and nice sentences. So romantic la…haha…I love them so much! Thanks ya Christine!

After Christine left the whole room became quiet again as we concentrated on our work. Then we realised that she left her phone on Siew Ting’s desk. So I sms-ed Puai Yee to call Christine to come back for her phone, to which she replied, ‘Haha.. she screamed with anger just now.. haha..’ no doubt for it as she had to climb to the 5th floor again! So she came, took her phone and left for the second time. The whole room resumed its quietness (like so scary la so quiet). Suddenly Siaw Tze screamed at the top of her lungs. I was so startled that I quickly stood up and jumped away from the chair. ‘COCKROACH!!!’ She screamed, while rushing to hide behind the door of her bedroom. Chean Ying also moved away from her desk as the cockroach was crawling at the side of her desk. She went to Ling Sing’s room to borrow Shieldtox and sprayed it to the cockroach which was moving into Siaw Tze’s room. Eventually it became dizzy and passed out behind the door. Siaw Tze was already holding a broom and a dustpan, ordering me to sweep away the deadly cockroach. ‘You come and sweep la…’ I said. ‘No la no la, you sweep la…’ She said in a timid way. Sambil menggeleng-geleng kepala I took the broom from her and swept the creature into the dustpan then threw it into the dustbin at the balcony.

After that we continued with our work. A few minutes later Siaw Tze screamed again while running to hide in her room. Again, both Chean Ying and I were so surprised because of her sudden screaming. We saw that there was another cockroach crawling on the ceiling near the balcony! ‘Why your place so many cockroaches one?’ I asked. Siaw Tze said, ‘Dunno whether this was the first cockroach or not…’ Just then the brown-black bug flew! As expected, more shouting la. It flew to Ru Xing’s white board, to Siew Ting’s desk and crawled on her water bottle, my eraser, paper and even my phone! ‘Hey that’s my phone la!!!’ I shouted while not knowing any way to chase it away. Chean Ying had newspaper in her hand and Shieldtox in the other. Siaw Tze was on the move – she dialled Ling Sing’s number. ‘Faster can and save us!! Got cockroach!’ She talked into the phone. And our heroine came! ‘Where is it?’ Ling Sing asked. ‘Tuu… beside Siew Ting’s table…’ she took a look and asked for some tissue paper. ‘Tissue?! Why you use tissue??’ I asked. ‘To catch it la!’ Wah, so geng! Catch cockroach with tissue is not something that I would do! Cockroach is just so disgusting! Finally she caught it and showed it playfully to Siaw Tze who was scared of cockroaches, haha… ‘You’re our hero!’ Chean Ying said, she even sms-ed Yeu Sheng and told her what happened. I was laughing non-stop when Chean Ying referred toilet paper as ‘bang sai zhua’ in Hokkien. She took a short video of Ling Sing catching the cockroach. As Siaw Tze and I watched it through her phone, Siaw Tze said, ‘You see people catch with own hands, you should learn from her ma…’ I said, ‘You don’t say people la, why don’t you say yourself, only know how to scream and hide behind the door!’ I wonder why people like HER who is quite big-sized (taller) than us, older than us, has big bones and big handwriting (in short, mostly everything BIG) would be scared of small not-welcomed insect called COCKROACH. Haha! Well I admit that cockroaches are disgusting, but then you don’t have to SCREAM when you see it ma… >.<

Phew! Another cockroach gone from our sight! It was nearly 1am that time, then Siaw Tze said, ‘A bit hungry la… scream too much…’ =.= She’s so teruk… oh ya, I had to use wet tissue to wipe my phone, eraser and file, and also wash Siew Ting’s water bottle, all because of that irritating horrible cockroach. After that we went to sleep. I looked through some of the photos beside Siew Ting’s bed while chatting with Siaw Tze for a while before we said goodnight to each other and slept.

if boring, go find siew ting them... why use the name siew ting? (hint: siew ting is sweet!)

This morning Cheah Yen sms-ed me asking whether I’m okay or not alone in hostel. Her message goes like this: ‘Wei wei wei... wat u doing there? Ok anot staying alone..? If boring, go find siew ting they all la... Sleep over at their place la...’ I replied her that I am in my relative’s house. In another message she sent, ‘u lucky la, so many friends like ME tat sms u scared u boring…’ haha, yeah~

Went to Mid Valley just now to ‘cheong k’ with Chean Ying, Siew Ting and Yeu Sheng. It was fun as we took some pictures and I took a video of them singing the song ‘You Are My Superstar’. Yeu Sheng was very great at singing; she knew how to sing most of the songs at correct pitch! Must call her to go cheong k again next time, haha… After singing karaoke and paid, we left and went shopping (girl’s nature!). I treat Siew Ting ice cream as promised (last night I told her that I would belanja her ice cream if she go cheong k with us). The Baskin ‘Robbin ice cream was very sweet, a little bit too sweet I think, and it melted quite fast. We walked around, going in and out of shops selling clothes, hair bands and those girls’ stuff. Chean Ying bought a pair of pants (I told her that the guard would say ‘seluar ketat’ if she wears that to INTEC =P) while Siew Ting bought a white t-shirt. We went to the lower ground floor and bought some bread (they bought for breakfast next morning while I bought to fill my stomach before dinner). At 5.15pm we went to Kenny Roger’s to have dinner. The three of them ordered quarter meals with 3 side dishes each while I only ordered a vanilla muffin as my relatives were going to have a barbecue at night.

*Chean Ying, Yeu Sheng, Me....*

*.....and Siew Ting, she's so sweet right?*

As I finished eating my muffin and started to transfer the photos we took to Chean Ying’s phone, a Chinese old lady approached us and spoke in Cantonese, calling us to buy her pens at RM3.50 each and kept saying things like ‘给我钱买饭’, and said that she didn’t have money to eat chicken like us. We ignored her initially but she kept on pestering us to buy. She even said, ‘你们没有良心,衰人来的…’ something like that! I stared at Siew Ting as the old lady blurted those words, shocked that she would say so. I turned to my right and saw a waitress and I made eye contact with her so she would come and call the old lady to go away. Then Chean Ying took out RM3 for the old lady, she did not have enough coins to make up the remaining RM0.50. The old lady said, ‘Don’t have RM3.50 then give me RM4’… Siew Ting took out some coins and gave to Chean Ying, summing up RM3.50. The old lady put a pen on the table, saying thank you and walked away to the next table while the waitress followed and told her that she could not do that in the restaurant. Yeu Sheng said, ‘一看就知道是骗人的,衣服穿到这样美…’ we agreed. But maybe there were some other reasons which we did not know. ‘How come this kind of thing always happened when we come out and eat ar? Last time at Sungei Wang also like that…’ Siew Ting said, adding, ‘See us like small kids then tackle us la…’ Chean Ying frowned. Well, hope this won’t happen again in the future…

d i n n e r

Now I know rupa-rupanya a lot of people care about me being alone in hostel. The night before leaving, Amelene asked me, ‘You okay or not staying alone? Call Siew Ting to come over here and sleep la…’ I said that it’s ok and told her that I didn’t call Siew Ting to come over as I didn’t want to trouble her. The next day after they left, Cheah Yen also went back home, and I was alone in my room till my dad came and fetched me to my relative’s house. At about 5pm Josephine miss called me (she usually miss call me as a sign to talk at the balcony). I sms-ed her telling her that I was not at the hostel and asked if there was anything. She replied that she just wanted to ask me out to have dinner together. Haha... Guess she thought that I was bored. Later at night when I was enjoying my dinner (gonna elaborate on this later), Siew Ting sms-ed me asking whether I was bored and wanna go to her room and play or not. Apparently she, too, didn’t know that I wasn’t in hostel and was in Hilton Hotel having dinner… haha…

Ok, about the dinner at the hotel… the hotel is near KL Central. My uncle, aunt, cousins, grandpa, dad and me went there coz my cousin brother’s girlfriend works there (and perhaps she got the permission to let ‘relatives’ to have a chance to eat there, haha). While on the way there in my dad’s car, I actually didn’t know where we were heading to that time and the journey was quite long, so I dozed off. When I woke up half an hour later I realised that we were in a parking lot. I saw a sign ‘Hotel Lobby’. ‘Hotel lobby?? Where am I?’ I thought. As we got down the car and walked towards the entrance into the hotel then only I realised that it’s Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur. I was quite blur coz just woke up and on seeing the classic and high class surrounding I was excited. Like, wow… we went up to the 6th floor and were led to a dining room with a round table. There was a buffet and there were lots of people walking around with plates and food - waiters and waitresses, chefs, businessmen, guests and some kids. It was buka puasa time. There was a nice box with two dates inside and two glasses of drinks for each of us on the table.

I followed my dad wandering around with a plate in our hands. I saw a big tray of oysters, lobsters, prawns all on ice. There were also many trays of Malay food like curry, chicken, fish and beef. On the other section there was a corner where they serve Japanese food and desserts in the other corner. I took an oyster, some duck meat and steamed fish.

After finishing the first plate of food a waiter came into our room and took our plates away. I walked out of the room and went to the Japanese food section, taking some raw fish meat and sotong with soy sauce and wasabi. They were simple delicious!

After that I went out to take another plate of desserts which were some cakes with chocolates. They were really soft and lovely, they just melted in my mouth… =P

My cousin sister took a cup of ice cream which consisted of 5 scoops of ice cream flavour, banana, corn, strawberry, mango and lime flavour. I tasted some of it together with my cousin sister and another cousin, and we thought that only the corn tasted nice (more like corn) while the other flavours were quite weird, they were quite sour and the banana ice cream was like blended banana. My cousin sister ate it and gave me a disgusted kind of look, haha.

We were very full after stuffing so much food into our stomach. My cousin brother’s girlfriend who was working came into our room to chat a while with us. From the conversation I knew that she works there from 10am to 11pm a day, which is about 12 hours a day! It must be tiring especially during this Ramadan month.

We went home at about 9pm and I was very satisfied. ‘You are lucky that you come back this weekend,’ my dad told me. Well, yeah!

p/s: going to upload the pics later. connection problem now..

a name which did not appear in my blog for some time

Finished the McFlurry that Calvin belanja me...haha...thanks ya!! (or should I say, no thanks coz he owed me that for such a long time..)

Hmmm, no idea what to blog.. I kept asking Ling Weng to give me some ideas on what to blog. Well.............................now I know what to write..here it goes.. while you are reading, notice that there's a sentence that appeared 3 times..

Yesterday after class at 1pm, I went to the place to wait for the bus to go back to hostel..

Elycia: Where is Siaw Tze?
Me: Waiting for...... (doing a you-know-I-know look)
Elycia: Oh...

In the bus while waiting for the bus driver..

Ramanen: Where is Siaw Tze?
Me: You know I know lah..haha.. =P
Ramanen: Oh.. (pause a while) she seems happier nowadays.
Me: Really? How you know?
Ramanen: Well, you know right, when a person changes...

Later in the bus again...

Christine: Why you alone?? Where is Siaw Tze?
Me: (sort of staring at her)
Christine: Why you look at me with you eyes so big like that?
Me: Haha..

Back at hostel..

Amelene: I know you come back alone again... Just now I saw Siaw Tze with Calvin.
Me: Yeah, haha..

- e v e n t s -

Here I am blogging for the second time today (I dunno what happen to my first post, after i clicked 'Publish Post' it somehow ended up gone and I was so frustrated). I just had my ethics final exam this morning. Say bye bye to ethics!!

Tonight the usual lot of us (Conney, Siew Ting, Christine, Ling Weng) and probably Yu Wan and i-dunno-who-else-going will be having dinner at McD with Amelene and Kia Miang. They're going back to Kuching at the wee hours tomorrow morning, one week earlier than the rest of us, skipping class for one week (note: geng!!) I recalled yesterday when Conney, Siew Ting and I went to bazaar together, Conney mentioned about the two going back earlier than us...and later she was like sms-ed most of us asking, 'tomoro want to have dinner together with amelene them or not?' So I told Amelene, 'You see Conney miss you so much eh, keep mentioning your name and when want to have dinner together...feel touched or not??' Amelene did a crying act and said, 'Waa...I so great ar you guys wanna have dinner with me..hahaha!!' and she turned to Kia Miang and said that both of them are so 'wei da'... >.<

Yesterday at 12pm my classmates thought that we'd be having Physics class, so 3 of my friends went back to hostel, skipping Physics (Physics is kinda boring..) Who knows, Pn Amani came in and we were quite surprised. 'Chemistry?? Not Physics meh??' Pn Amani, who was writing the solutions and answers for our trial paper on the board, turned to us and said (while writing), 'E = mc 2 (square)' ..making us laugh. She told us that she used to teach physics, maths, history and some other subjects at tuition centre. Wow..! After class ended, Pn Amani approached me and asked, 'Do you know where Daphne, Hsiu Li and Cheah Yen go?' I was like, 'Errr....I think they went back..' Pn Amani tapped my shoulder and laughed while walking away. Well, that was the second time they skipped class unintentionally...hehe..

Hmmm, I'll be alone in my room for the next whole week.. Cheah Yen is going back home after the exam briefing tomorrow morning. Anyone wanna come and accompany me? =P

t r i p s

After much discussing. finally it's settled!! Yeah!

Now 8 of us are going to Mulu and Kuching in December! Haha~

Initially the plan was to go to Mount Kinabalu and Kuching, then we could not get the permit (in addition my mom did not allow me to go climbing)...so we changed our plan. There were much to discuss and think of, the plane tickets, price, date, how many days we gonna spend there etc. And we met from time to time, Ryan being the 'messenger' who sms-ed us when and where to discuss, and Wong being the organiser of the trip.

And now the plan is to go to Mulu and Kuching. Mulu to visit Mulu Cave (some caves, one is called Deer Cave if I remember correctly), then Kuching to visit some places and my friends.

Oh yeah, after the final exam and before the grand dinner (there's one week in between) some friends and I are going to Cameron Highland and Ipoh.

Woohoo...so many trips coming! I'm so excited =P

Mooncake Festival

Well, it's mooncake festival on Friday but we didn't really celebrate it... Early in the morning about 10am, Kia Miang, Amelene and me went to Mid Valley to watch Rob-B-Hood. It's really a funny and touching nice movie. After that we went to eat Portugese Ikan Bakar recommended by Zhi Han. Wow, very spicy but I still can tahan la..hahaha.. Then we went to shop around. I bought three shirts while Amelene bought a bag for her brother and a jeans, saying that she's such a good sister who buys things for her brother. (I was like, o.O =.= yala yala whatever..) Kia Miang bought a pair of trousers from Romp. I think I spent a lot this week, sigh..

We had our dinner at Kenny Roger's. That meal was very fulfilling...the muffin very soft, chicken and side dishes delicious and mouth watering..and the service is good, unlike the service at Kenny Roger's at Times Square. The waitress even apologised to Kia Miang when the waiter who served forgot to provide her with fork and knife, and she brought two sets for her! Haha.. Thinking about it now makes me hungry... =P

We went back to Akasia at about 11pm, nearly passed the curfew time. And I was very happy to see my friends celebrating Mooncake Festival by lighting some candles which formed the Chinese word for moon, 'yue'.. Christine, being as kepo as usual, checked what we bought... I gave Siew Ting a tortoise handphone keychain which I bought for her, hehe! After that we went back to our rooms and it started raining.

And so that's how this year's Mooncake Festival... I didn't play any lanterns, though.. Didn't even see the full moon..
