HapPy bIrThdAy Ting Ting dear dear!!

Today is Siew Ting's birthday! Yoyo, 19 already oh! And when it's her birthday, it means that this year is going to end soon... kinda fast..

I recalled those days in Semester 1 (last year) when we were staying at Block 7 of Akasia, I barely knew
Siew Ting and Siaw Tze but they came to my room often (to look for Amelene?).. There's when I got to know Siew Ting - a sweet and friendly cute gal! There's something that drove me to think that, hmm, I like this gal... Never it struck me that she would become one important and special person to me. Throughout the year our friendship grew and we became close friends. Or more, intimate friends...

Ting Ting, I'm glad that we cherished our days together so far...Thank you for being such a nice friend..You open your heart to me, and I open mine... Words that you said, like when you said that you are always with me, I know that you mean it, and I really appreciate you saying that as it meant a lot to me. You tell me about your feelings, and I tell you about my dreams.. You said that people tend to think a lot during the holidays and you are one of them, but I guess I'm also like that (similar personality?).. You lend me your ears and I lend you mine, that is the most important thing to me~

Remember last time we used to call you nicknames? You didn't seem to mind, and you responded in a cute way instead.. even when we teased you! And that's what I like about you... your cuteness and sweetness! And also SS-ness...haha! And I love you because of your showering love and care as you are always there for me! =D '
This is what friends are for..' (a phrase from my mom)

Too bad that I can't buy you a birthday cake now... I know that's what you want.. If I meet you in January I'll buy you whatever cake you want okay? Hehe~ Smile more ya, coz you have a dazzling smile that will brighten up anybody's day!

Once again, haPpY bIrThdAy dear, with lots of hugs and kisses from me at West Malaysia to you at East Malaysia.. lalala~ enjoy your day to its fullest ya!

Christmas Day just passed like that.

I woke up yesterday morning and saw mom walking to my room. I wished her a 'Happy Birthday' and told her to look at my youngest sis who was still sleeping soundly in her bed. So it's Christmas and my mom's birthday as well, haha!

Afternoon my sis, dad and I went out to buy some things needed for the dinner. We planned to do a mini barbecue (using electrical bbq) to cook the mutton, beef and chicken wings together with sparkling juice (yummy!). We already bought a birthday cake from Secret Recipe for mom a day earlier. Guess what cake... I think
Siaw Tze will know this, it's the marble cheese cake!

So three of us went to the central market to buy lettuce, potatoes and chicken wings. My dad easily got a parking, and my sis asked, 'Why everytime we go out with you, sure got parking space one... then everytime we go out with mummy, sure very difficult to find parking space...' Dad said, 'Yea, I think I have a guardian angel watching over me... you know that day when I drove back the car tyre
poncek while I was still in Gua Musang, but I still managed to get back home like nothing happened.' (Gua Musang is about 3 hours away from my house.) Wow...must be nice to have a guardian angel watching over you eh? =D

After getting our things from the market, we went to The Store to buy coleslow, milk and photo albums. When we got back home it's already about 3.30pm and dad started to marinate the meat while I arranged my photos and put them into the photo album. I began to make mashed potato at 5.30pm, boiling the potatoes to make them soft, then adding milk, butter and salt while mashing them. Finally it's a big yellow nice paste ready to be served. Mom made coleslow and while dad was barbecue-ing, the rest of us wore our Christmas hats and took photos. =P

We celebrated mom's birthday and ate dinner which started at 9pm, enjoying the good food and drinks.. after dinner I played Monopoly with my two sisters.

So Christmas Day ended like that.

r i n g r i n g !

Yesterday while we were finishing our dinner the house phone rang.

Dad and my sisters had already finished theirs and were in the kitchen.

As my youngest sis went to pick up the phone, I simply said, "Everytime the house phone rings, it'll either be 'Hello 请问Rachel有在吗?' or 'Hello 请问燕萍有在吗?' surely don't have 'Hello 请问Jessica有在吗?'... "

As I finished my words and continued eating the chicken, my sis came out and said, "Your phone la!" I turned and asked her, ''Who?" She looked at me and said, "YOU LAH!!!"

I was so surprised!!

i love photos~

I went to develop photos yesterday, altogether 275 photos cost me RM110. Those include photos taken in INTEC and Akasia (bus stop, study room bla bla), Sarawak trip and grand dinner. As I browsed through the photos, memories flashed across my mind... and I laughed at the funny pics we took in Mulu!

See this... this is normal pose..

Then we started to go crazy as we wanted to take cute pics, so we sort of forced the boys to do what we requested... anyway after much struggling, they finally agreed and cooperated in producing these 'beautiful' pics.. =P

~Flower~ Haha, Ryan looks like a girl to me in this pic!

Another pic of us acting cute... girlish.. hahaha..

Acting 'geram'..but we're smiling! Chean Ying looks like little girl with two pony tails!

And on the last day before we left Mulu for Miri, we went to Cafe Mulu to take a few pics.

This one... Ryan looks like sitting Buddha, but is he covering his nose because of the smell of our socks? Haha~

p/s: Ryan & Wong: Sorry if you guys mind about me uploading these pics... but this shows that both of you are really sporting! Isn't that nice? See at least we have something that can remind us of the crazy acts we did in Mulu!! =D

I'm b o r e d .

Strange that I feel bored at home? This is because my form 6 friends are in Taiwan now, they joined a tour... and there's one friend in Japan, he joined YE... that means, me alone in KB???

Playing games all day = in front of the computer screen/tv screen all day is no fun to me unless I haven't played the game before. Well, you know what I mean...the games that I have, I have already finished them all...

Reading books? No way! I have been reading books the whole year... novels don't seem to please me nowadays.

Playing the piano? Err...anyone out there got any new songs? I think I can memorize the rhythm/fingerings/notes etc of the songs I played, so if I play them again and again it'll be like....duh....(OK la, I admit that I'm lazy...)

And, I miss my college friends.

YES I GOT MY SACE RESULTS.

I finally got my results - which is the same as Chean Ying! Woohoo~!!

Many people must be super happy right now. Jumping, screaming (doubt it) and cannot sleep.

For me? I don't know, just feeling tired after online-ing for 5 hours and got my results at about 10am. And hungry...

Christmas tree!

Anyone who has been to my house surely knows that the christmas tree in my house is there all year long. My mom usually switches on the christmas lights when it's evening, and the living room will become bright and have a lively atmosphere around it. The christmas tree is 6 feet tall and has been with us since I was young and when we were still living at Tanjung Chat. I don't know when my mom bought it, but even it is already more than 10 years old (yes my house has a lot of things which are more than 10 or 20 years due to my mom's housekeeping skills) the christmas tree still looks brand new to me. It's the traditional green colour type like those you see in movies or cartoons.

And why do I want to talk about my christmas tree?

It's because I just re-decorated it few days ago! Mom bought some new ornaments from The Summit and two new sets of christmas chasing lights. After dusting the christmas tree and taking out the old ornaments to wash, she put the chasing lights around the christmas tree while I started to put the ornaments in. My sisters said they wanted to help but one went upstairs to watch tv while the other one doing homework (-.-). So it's me alone who decided where to put the angels, the bears, snowman, reindeers, strawberries, apricorns, apples etc.. When it's finally done, the whole christmas tree looks lively again with the running lights and glittering ornaments. I love it!

Results are out!

Congrats to those who did so well in the exam!! (you guys really are terror!)

I still can't check mine, the website is super jam right now.

Hopefully I can get good results! =D

Me: eat people one oh, the cat's far relative...
Boon: is it?? wah so scary ah, I have to hide lo..
Cheng Khoon: Then I also have to hide lo..
Conney: (to Cheng Khoon) you no need la, you are not human! (laughs)

Basically we had much fun during the whole trip though it's quite tiring in Mulu, having to wake up early in the morning to explore the caves and appreciate the wonderful stalactites, stalamites, columns, rock formations and river... and also the creatures in the caves such as bats, crickets, spiders. In Mulu, we are exposed to the nature while in Miri and Kuching, we met our friends. Ling Weng and Siaw Tze drove us around in Miri during the half day on 7th December before our flight to Kuching at night. haPpY biRthdaY ATG!!

Yeah it's Amelene's birthday today! Well ATG stands for.... Amelene The Great! Haha~

I put that title as my personal msg in MSN, and this Bernard Kua said ATG is Ah Tan Gilo... well it's Ah Buu's birthday as well! Haha.. (Ah Buu's surname is Tan, so..)

OK enough for the crap..back to Amelene..

She's my roommate in Akasia for one and a half years. The first time I met her was during the registeration on 30th June 2005 at Cemara office. At first glance I thought that she's a mixed (Chinese + ang-mo?) coz her nose is quite sharp, and she spoke English to me first, asking what room I was in. As I was holding many documents in my hand, we took a seat near the corridor and she helped me checked my room number. How happy we were when we knew that we were in the same room! Fate fate~

So life went on... everybody in AUSMAT surely knows how's life in hostel is like, so I don't have to describe here. Just wanna say a big thank you to Amelene for always bringing joy and fun to me in the 'house' by telling craps and jokes, singing songs, acting cute =P She knows more people in AUSMAT compared to me, due to her keponess friendliness la...haha...

And also thanks for your cooking, your comfort, love and care as a dear roommate and friend... I'll cherish the moments that we spent together... they're the great and wonderful memories to be appreciated =) You're really understanding and full of warmth (this one you sure know la, sit a while on the chair and the chair will become warm, hehe) just kidding k... remember the day you had your spec maths final exam and I was alone at home, then you came back, opening the door and said, 'Honey I'm home!' now that really surprised me!

The days staying at your house in Kuching were fun... finally I had the chance to see your doggie.. the dog which looks much like the owner..haha..not only me say this, so don't scold me oh!

Hmm...today's your birthday, so enjoy it to the fullest ya! Ask for more presents...hahaha =P

the day i took the most pictures

This year of AUSMAT has finally come to an end. We had our AUSMAT grand dinner at the Palace of the Golden Horses Hotel near the Mines Resort City on 27th November 2006. After our JPA briefing and psychology camp in the morning, we went back to our hostel in the afternoon at about 3pm and started to get ready. My mum was already at my hostel waiting to do make-up for me and some of my friends, namely Siaw Tze, Ling Weng, Josephine and Michelle. I took my bath and my mum started to put the foundation on my face while waiting for my friends to arrive. At 4pm Conney and Ling Weng arrived at my doorstep. Conney did make-up herself. All of us did not plan to set our hair at any salon. A few minutes later Josephine arrived, followed by Siaw Tze and then Michelle. We dressed up and it was really fun to see us in nice elegant clothes. Haha… Josephine and Siaw Tze who rebond their hair earlier looked like mother and daughter as their dress were also black in colour. Conney wore a white dress while Ling Weng in black. Michelle’s RM399 dress was a purple one. While my mum was doing make-up for my friends, I received a call from Zhi Han requesting for my mum to help make-up for Penny as the people at the salon in SACC Mall did not have enough time. So Penny came back and climbed the many flight of stairs up to my room which was at the highest floor, looking totally exhausted. Christine, who was in her room at the 4th floor of the 6th entrance (mine at 2nd entrance) called for help for someone to zip up her dress. As I was totally ready and did not have anything else to do, I went there and helped her (not to zip up her dress but to help put glitters on her back). After that I went back to my room, sweating a little and rushing as it was already past 5.30pm. The buses would leave the hostel at 5.30pm and we had to hurry.

I dragged myself to the bus stop as it was my first time wearing high heels. I was surprised to see Zhi Han (I could not recognise her as she was wearing contact lenses) and the rest at the guard house. Apparently the guard would not let us out as we did not wear according to the so-called strict dress code – long sleeves and long pants/dress till the ankle. Though my dress was long, I was not allowed to go out as I did not have anything to cover my arms (till the wrist). The shawl alone was not enough. Just then our heroes appeared. Some guys came with coats in their hands, so we wore their coat (long enough to cover our arms till the wrist) and walked out of the gate to the bus stop. However my friends who wore knee-length dresses still were not allowed to go out. Michelle and I walked out with Chean Yeaw following behind. We stepped into the bus, which was the last bus going to the hotel and realised that it was already 6.30pm. We would be late, I thought. We anxiously waited for the rest of my friends who were ‘trapped’ by the guard. A while later, whisperings of ‘oh my god’ could be heard and I was shocked to see my friends in jackets and jeans while still wearing their dress on. So that was how they got pass the guard, in a terrible way… When they got up the bus all of us clapped and cheered. The bus driver started to drive and about an hour later we reached our destination due to the traffic congestion on the way there.

I kept wondering how would Siew Ting looked after she set her hair as I did not meet her since I got back to hostel in the afternoon. I spotted her as soon as I stepped into the 6-star hotel, and my, she really looked beautiful and matured like a princess. Ling Weng, Conney, Siaw Tze and Chean Ying went to the toilet to take off their jeans. The rest of us were busy taking photos. We registered our names and got a pencil and two booklets each. We went into the royal ballroom half an hour later and found our table. My table was table 8 at the right corner near to the dessert. The dinner was a buffet style. The function began at 8.30pm with the arrival of VIPs and an Indian dance by Arwin. She really danced well. After a few speeches we were motioned to get up and start taking food from the trays. Everyone was very hungry. Throughout the dinner there were some performances such as singing, video presentation, band performance and also a magic show which was a little bit boring. We also got our AUSMAT yearbook. There were two sessions of lucky draw but none of my tablemates got any prizes. I thought that my tablemates were the ‘liveliest’ of all as we kept taking photos and talking without paying much attention to the magic show. I like the video presentation made by Yeam Shin Yao and the song sang by AUSMAT Idol Jia Huei. There was even a catwalk by some lecturers! It was really fun to see them posed on stage. Hehe… it showed that our lecturers had their cute and funny side! Finally it was the announcement of the prom king and prom queen. A few guys and gals were nominated and asked to do a catwalk. The results were: Roger was the prom king and Yi Chin was the prom queen.

The dinner came to its end at about 1am. Everyone started to take more photos again, with lecturers, prom king and queen, and also on stage. We went back by the bus provided at 1.30am and reached our hostel at 2.30pm, totally sleepy and tired and suffering from leg-pain. Anyway I really enjoyed the dinner; it’s the most anticipated and most important activity in our AUSMAT life after all!

What a day!

It was Monday 27th November 2006 and all JPA-sponsored students under AUSMAT program had to attend a briefing and psychology camp held by JPA. The function was supposed to start at 8.30am but the officers arrived one hour late, making us wasting time waiting. Initially they talked about some things that we had known – about TER and universities etc. The good news is that we can have a 50% discount when we do our passport with a letter from JPA which will be given to us. At about 10.30am the lady officer started to give us our reports on our psychology test which we had taken earlier in April. The report contained an analysis on our psychology, such as nervousness, depression, dominant (confidence), self-discipline etc and the score was based on a 100 mark basis, I think. I got 4 for nervousness, according to the explanation of the officer this meant that I am calm whenever I am handling things (quite true since when facing exams I seldom feel tension, haha =P). I couldn’t really remember what I got for other traits but I did remember I got a 98 for self-discipline, which shocked me a bit. Haha… maybe the report got some false points. Who knows right?

Well, what surprised most of us more was when the lady officer announced that she had called a tailor to take our body measurements to make blazer for us at 11am. She even told us that the cost to make a blazer is RM400, which includes a bag (I dunno what kind of bag, by the way). Most of us were rushing as many students had to be called for counseling based on the results of the psychology test. Imagine 300+ students waiting to take for measurement. What made matters worse was that there was only one man taking measurement! He was a Chinese in his 60s and there were only his wife and him. They distributed forms for us to fill in our names and soon there was a pile of sheets stacked up. Everybody wanted to be measured earlier coz each one did not want to go to school the next day (just to take measurement, for goodness sake).

I passed up mine and waited for my turn. That was already about 12pm, and I waited patiently together with my friends for our turns. ‘Lo and behold’, there were people who cut/jumped queue!! They put their forms on top of ours and they got to be measured first. The situation was really tense as everyone was rushing to prepare for the grand dinner which would be held at night and the bus would leave at 5.30pm, meaning that we had to get ready before that. Some of my friends had even made appointment with Thomas & Guys Salon at SACC Mall to set their hair and do make-up. We were quite angry when we heard that the people who jumped queue were boys who did not need much time to do make-up or set hair or wear high-heels or do anything that need extra time. We gave chance to those who had to take plane the next morning back home to measure theirs first, but for those who were not under this condition, it was really too much. One person took about 10 minutes to be measured, and as so many people were talking, checking forms, waiting…to sum it up in one word, it was so luan. I pitied the uncle who had to endure the heat (there was something wrong with the air cond) and had to take measurements, at the same time asking the students to wait and saying out the measurements to his wife who wrote them down on the forms.

Out of the blue a Sikh guy stood up and raised his voice with much anger saying that he could not bear any longer. As he was saying about people jumping queue, his eyes were looking at Conney and me who planned to check when would be our turn and also some guys behind us. He even scolded Chean Ying who was being measured that time, saying that she jumped queue by putting hers on top of the forms. It was really scary as he was a tall and quite big-sized guy, talking with such loudness which made me irritated. Poor Chean Ying got scolded for something she did not do. The guy said that he would slap and punch the next person who jumped queue if he saw anyone touching the stack of forms. Somehow the situation calmed down when uncle said he would make sure of that. It was already 2.20pm then, so Conney and I decided to go back to our hostel to get ready for grand dinner and take our measurements the next morning. We left the classroom and got on the bus while discussing about what happened just now. A few minutes later Chean Ying walked into the bus and took a seat beside us. We chatted a little, and then she said that Ryan’s car could still fit in two more people. As the sky was turning dark (sign of rain), Conney and I followed Chean Ying to find Ryan. It was then we realised Ryan had to fetch 6 people back to hostel – one guy and 5 gals including us. So the five of us squeezed behind in his car as the rain started pouring down heavily. We got back to our hostel safely, took our bath and started to prepare ourselves for grand dinner.

Well, the next post will be on grand dinner, some unexpected things which happened before we left our hostel and some funny things during dinner. I don’t want to make this post too long, hehe~
