OSCE~

Finally, we had our formative OSCE today! OSCE, or Objective Structured Clinical Examination, is a kind of examination to test our clinical skills such as CPR, First Aid, Medical Interviewing skills etc. There were 4 stations where we spent about 6 minutes at each station. The situation for each station was described on a piece of paper on the door and we had 1 minute to read the paper before going in. It was quite rushing as we had to read fast and think, then go in and do what we were supposed to do (or what we thought is right!) It was quite like a spontaneous response as at the end of the 6 minutes we had to get out from the room and quickly went to the next door to read the next paper on it. This went on till the fourth station which was the last station. 'That was the fastest 30 minutes in my life' (Khoo 2007). Overall it was fun; some of us did silly things, some may forget this or that, but luckily it was just a formative one this time. That was certainly some good experience for us! All that preparation we had at Deakin and the effort we put it had paid off eh? =D (by the way, when is 二姐 going to 'feed' us pancakes again? Hehe)

p/s: I still remember how Daniel said that we were wasting 'medication' when we drew up water using the syringe and adjusted it to the correct dosage....and I also remember how many times Chean Ying practiced the conversation before giving injections: "Do you know what are you here for? Yup, for the flu vaccine...OK now I'm going to talk about the side effects...you may experience pain, redness and swelling at the injection site, and you may get a low grade fever a few days later..and muscle ache...you may also feel tired. And now, are you allergic to eggs?" You see, I can memorise what she said coz she repeated that three or four times to me!! But we were not tested on injections during the OSCE this time, haha..

Anyway, a few of us planned to buy the 400GB external hard disk today but too bad the store ran out of stock. And that product won't be available anymore.. =(
